Hi there, I am Nicole! ‍
Coming from a diverse background of user experience, textile design, business...‍
I hold a Master's degree in UX Research, Strategy & Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and non-degree cross-registration (with credits) at MIT. However, I have already immersed in textile and pattern design for 4+ years for undergrad. The most intriguing part of UX fields is I can interact and receive feedback from the end-users. So far, I worked as UX/Product Designer in several industries such as Art, Healthcare Insurance, Entertainment, and Education. These experiences brought me helpful skills and I also build unique perspectives to approach problems.

The image of me ISFJ
I’m an ISTJ, the duty fulfiller.
I am an independent thinker who is very observant and prefer to focus on the details of every situation. I can always put myself in users’ shoes because I am good at logical thinking where I can analyze users' true needs and pain points. Although I prefer to work within boundaries or orders, prioritizing the difficult tasks and accomplishing them really bring a lot of joy to me. I will say my design present a variety of elements as combining vision with strategy and a balance of aesthetics and functions.
The image of me sharing new perspectives
I am alway willing to share new perspectives.
Growing up in Taiwan but now living in Boston, I know how unique I am from others I met so far. Most of the time, I am the minority of the groups I have been through, but I love how different conversations bring the spice to my life, which inspires me to bring a unique point of view to designing simple and thoughtful experience. Also, being a highly empathetic person, I enjoy solving problems under a practical and people-oriented approach.
The image of me exploring the world
I love exploring the world and film photography.
When I'm not designing, you can find me hanging around in New England area and capturing what I saw. Even experiencing the same spots, I still love to take a picture of the moment, especially the very dramatic natural light. Because each scene is so exclusive and I got different feelings to that, just as how each user represents their individual perspectives, but they all mean valuable to me. Beyond this, I also enjoy playing the piano, indoor rock climbing, and cooking.

Nicole is hardworking and thorough, with the demonstrated ability to take ownership and guide projects to successful outcomes. These are just a few of the great qualities that Nicole demonstrated during her time at VSP’s Global Innovation Center as part of the Design team. Nicole started with us an intern in June, 2021 and quickly brought value to the internship program’s summer project, empowering diabetic and pre-diabetic patients with personalized health data to make better decisions increasing their chance for positive health outcomes.

Nicole was able to shift through ambiguity and organize insights in a way that elevated the expectations within the organization around the quality of work and business impacts this intern program could deliver. Throughout this project, Nicole displayed an excellent team attitude through collaboration with her colleagues and owning the creation of research and pitch decks to senior leadership.

I had the pleasure of hiring and mentoring Nicole as an intern at VSP Global Innovation Center and then working with her when she was hired as a full-time Interaction Designer. As an intern, she provided a Human-Centered and Design Thinking approach among her intern team of three– of whom had business and optometry experience. She even taught them new ways of working!

In addition to the myriad of skills: design research, qualitative and quantitative protocol creation, synthesis, journey mapping, digital prototyping, visualization and storytelling, Nicole is a proactive, thorough and dependable collaborator. The success of the intern project moving forward into a cross-enterprise project is evidence of how she is able to work from exploration to execution.

Humble, succinct and thoughtful are what come to mind when I think about Nicole.
‍
Being extremely comprehensive whilst having zero fluff is second nature to her. Hard-work, discipline, meticulousness and simplicity is a substantial part of her personality. And so, her work inevitably carries all of those attributes. Nicole thrives under uncertainty, which is fundamental to solving any design problem. That combined with her passion to improve customers' / users' life puts her design solutions in an entirely different league.

Teams that Nicole is involved with get a major boost of attention to detail. I am honored to be writing her this recommendation, and I can't wait for her to be a part of you team!

Nicole joined Novelty in a pre-seed stage when she was required to work a lot on building the design of the app form scratch. So she did three things exceptionally well that distinguished her from the rest of the candidates and exceeded all expectations:

1) She was able to understand what we had before and what we were building immediately.
2) She built the whole new version of the app without any delay in time. We had 3 different deadlines every week, and she was always ready. Work was always done with extraordinary quality.
3) She brought her vision of how things should look, and it was beneficial. Also, I didn't need to explain all the minor details, it was enough to say what I was expecting from her to see perfect execution and creativity. In every sense, Nicole is an outstanding, very diligent member of any team she joins.

Nicole has shown great ability to work on the marketing research project. She is able to attend meetings and complete assigned tasks timely.

During the conference, as a designer, she was able to combine her own experience and put forward unique thoughts on the direction of contemporary art market. During this internship, she made a detailed and complete report by researching data and searching media information, which was a great job. We look forward to working with her again if there is chance.
